Biography
biography Salvador Sobral is a Portuguese singer born in Lisbon on December 28, 1989. He is best known for winning the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Amar dos Dois”, written and composed by his sister, Luísa Sobral. Salvador started singing since he was a child and, as he revealed in interviews, singing emerged as entertainment during family car trips. In 2009, he participated in the third edition of Ídolos, where he was a finalist. After the Ídolos experience, Salvador decided to apply for the Erasmus scholarship program, which took him to a university in Mallorca. It was during this time that he decided to dedicate himself to music, professionally. Salvador spent most of his time singing in bars, restaurants, hotels and private parties. In March 2016, Salvador Sobral published his first album, Excuse Me, with musical co-production by pianist Júlio Resende, Venezuelan Leonardo Aldrey and Salvador Sobral himself. In 2017 he participated in the Festival da Canção where he performed the song Amar aos Dois, written by Luísa Sobral, winner of the Eurovision Festival in the same year. In addition to this song, other famous songs by Salvador Sobral include “Presságio”, “Mano a Mano”, “Nem Eu” and “Excuse Me”.
