biography Deolinda is a Portuguese popular music band inspired by fado and its traditional origins. This band emerged in 2006, when Pedro da Silva Martins presented four songs to the remaining members of the group: Ana Bacalhau (voice), Zé Pedro Leitão (double bass) and Luís José Martins (classical guitar). The four created the fictional character of Deolinda, a Lisbon woman, single, traditionalist and fan of Amália, Variações, Zeca Afonso and Sérgio Godinho. The band's first album, Canção ao Lado, was released in 2008 and reached third place on the AFP official top chart. The album received several awards, including gold, platinum and double-platinum. The band was praised by national and international critics, being named one of the revelations of the year by Songlines magazine. The album includes songs such as “Fon-Fon-Fon”, “Movimento Perpétuo Associativo” and “Contado Nobody Believe”. The band released three more studio albums: Dois Selos e um Carimbo (2010), Mundo Pequenino (2013) and Outra Histórias (2016). In these albums, the band explored new sounds and influences, always maintaining Deolinda's identity. The band also participated in several projects and collaborations with other artists, such as António Zambujo, Ana Moura, Carminho, Rui Veloso and Sérgio Godinho. Deolinda is a band that stands out for its originality, creativity and musical quality. His songs are full of humor, irony, social criticism and emotion. Ana Bacalhau's voice is the central element of the band, but the other musicians also contribute with their talents and personalities.
