Biography
biography José Francisco Martins Malhoa, known as José Malhoa, is a Portuguese popular music singer, born on September 28, 1947, in the parish of Santa Maria de Belém, Lisbon. He began singing at the Alves Rente community dances, initially with fado and then Spanish music. After leaving the army, José Malhoa performed a version of “Cara de Cigana”, originally by Daniel Magal, which became a great success. He released several albums through the labels Orfeu and Rádio Triunfo and sang in so-called mini-magazines that ran around the country. José Malhoa released the singles “Amor de Verão”, “Obrigado Amor Graças” and “Cristina” and signed a contract with CBS (later Sony Music). José Malhoa and his daughter Ana Malhoa recorded the album “Pai Amigo” and were a duo until the singer reached 20 years of age. He released the single “24 Rosas”, by Juan Sebastian, on Discossete, which became another big hit. José Malhoa is one of the founders of the Espacial publishing house and collaborated on many songs with composer Ricardo Landum. In 2011, he released the album “Morena Kuduro”, which was a great success. This is because this album already has a theme with the kuduro musical style. José Malhoa has 5 children from 5 different women. On April 15, 2012, he mourned the death of his long-time companion, Rosa Malhoa, who died of a sudden illness at the age of 73.
